Researching Ice Cream

In researching next month's article for Our Towne, I came across this item in the Knowersville Enterprise, dated August 13, 1887, and I just couldn't wait to share it with you.

"such a feast of down east bivalves is promised as shall cause one's stomach to flop over with joy."

"ice cream, soda and sasparilla, a bounteous supper..."

"this occasion offers a jolly good time and such a collation as is enjoyed by most people but once in a life time."

It is about noon time on a Tuesday.  I am starving. Now I want a "monster clam bake" and ice cream.

And a side note, would someone please open an "Ice Cream Saloon" at the Four Corners.  Thank you.
