In the continuing saga of random things that turn up on my desk, I was delighted to open an envelope recently that contained these photos.
Both are dated October 20, 1962 and were taken along the tracks in Slingerlands. The top photo shows the railroad station in the days when it was a firehouse. The bottom shows the freight house.
Also in the envelope, and also dated October 1962, are the photos below taken in Delmar near the Adams Street crossing.
Enjoy!
And many thanks to Barbara C. for sending that envelope my way!

Aussem's Mill Fire
This month's Our Towne Bethlehem article is about Aussem's Mill in South Bethlehem. I had a bit of a glitch in my writing/researching schedule and had to go to print without digging as much as I'd like. I never did find the date of when the mill burned down - but a faithful reader came to the rescue! She sent me the article below, published in the June 26, 1907 issue of the Troy Times.
And, thankfully, the date of the fire matches up with what I wrote in the article. Pop over to Our Towne's website for the full article (hopefully soon - I was just there is morning and it isn't posted yet.)
And, just for fun, here's a picture of the mill that is not in Our Town. Enjoy!
